    Caleb Smith, RH (9-10, 4.24, 164 Ks) - Miami Marlins


    Steven Matz, LH (10-9, 4.16, 143 Ks) - New York Mets


    MARLINS: Smith comes off a win at Arizona, where he gave up four runs in five innings. The lefty is 3-6 with a 4.94 ERA on the road. In his career against the Mets, Smith is 2-0 with a 3.18 ERA. For the season, Smith has 164 strikeouts in 144 1/3 innings.

    METS: Matz will have one last chance to improve upon his extreme home-road splits in his final road start of the year. The left-hander is 7-1 with a 1.94 ERA at Citi Field this season, but 3-8 with a 6.62 ERA in any other ballpark.

    Sandy Alcantara, RH (5-14, 4.00, 140 Ks) - Miami Marlins


    Noah Syndergaard, RH (10-8, 4.22, 186 Ks) - New York Mets


    MARLINS: Alcantara makes his team-high 31st start, and he looks to build on an improving season. His 184 1/3 innings already is a Marlins' rookie record. On the road, Alcantara has a 3.76 ERA, and in four September starts, he is 1-2 and has a 2.83 ERA.

    METS: Syndergaard has allowed four earned runs in each of his past three starts, and he hasn't pitched past the sixth in any of them. The Mets have lost three of his last five starts. But he has had a great deal of success against the Marlins in his career, going 7-1 with a 1.83 ERA in 10 starts.

    Robert Dugger, RH (0-3, 4.45, 22 Ks) - Miami Marlins


    Jacob deGrom, RH (10-8, 2.51, 248 Ks) - New York Mets


    MARLINS: Dugger will close out his rookie season with his seventh big league start since being promoted from Triple-A New Orleans. The 24-year-old seeks his first MLB win. In 32 1/3 innings, he has 22 strikeouts and 15 walks. In September, he has a 4.43 ERA.

    METS: deGrom has thrown seven scoreless innings in each of his last two starts. On Friday, he allowed only four hits with no walks and nine strikeouts in an 8-1 win over the Reds. deGrom is 8-7 with a 3.44 ERA in 21 career starts against the Marlins.

    Jordan Yamamoto, RH (4-5, 4.83, 72 Ks) - Miami Marlins


    Zack Wheeler, RH (11-7, 3.99, 185 Ks) - New York Mets


    MARLINS: Yamamoto opened the season at Double-A Jacksonville, and the rookie closes out his year at Citi Field. Opponents are hitting .111 off Yamamoto's slider, and .183 off his four-seam fastball.

    METS: Wheeler allowed just one earned run through seven innings in a 3-2 loss to the Reds on Saturday. That's five straight games in which Wheeler has allowed just one earned run, although three of those have resulted in no-decisions. He has had success in his career against the Marlins, going 7-2 with a 1.77 ERA in 13 starts.
