  • Cincinnati Reds vs. New York Mets = 09/20 - 09/22

    Friday, 20th September,
    7:10 PM EDT
    Great American Ball Park

Jacob deGrom, RH (9-8, 2.61, 239 Ks) - New York Mets

Luis Castillo, RH (15-6, 3.22, 211 Ks) - Cincinnati Reds

METS: The National League Cy Young Award race is growing interesting, due in large part to what deGrom has done in the second half. After his last start, he ranked third in the NL in ERA since the All-Star break, third in innings and first in strikeouts.

REDS: Castillo will look to build on his career-high wins total while also trying to secure his fifth victory in six starts. The right-hander pitched 6 2/3 innings of two-run ball against the Mets in a no-decision on April 30.

    Saturday, 21st September,
    4:10 PM EDT
    Great American Ball Park

Zack Wheeler, RH (11-7, 4.09, 179 Ks) - New York Mets

Anthony DeSclafani, RH (9-9, 3.93, 155 Ks) - Cincinnati Reds

METS: Free agency should be kind to Wheeler if he can carry his positive momentum through the end of this season. Wheeler, who potentially has only two starts left as a Met, is 2-0 with a 1.44 ERA and 23 strikeouts over his last four outings.

REDS: DeSclafani couldn't have done much better during a 1-0 loss at Arizona last Saturday: 78 pitches, 53 strikes and 17 first-pitch strikes. Most impressive: only one baserunner allowed. Over his last six starts, he is 2-2 with a 2.13 ERA.

    Sunday, 22nd September,
    1:10 PM EDT
    Great American Ball Park

Steven Matz, LH (10-9, 4.16, 143 Ks) - New York Mets

Trevor Bauer, RH (11-12, 4.41, 245 Ks) - Cincinnati Reds

METS: Matz will have one last chance to improve upon his extreme home-road splits in his final road start of the year. The left-hander is 7-1 with a 1.94 ERA at Citi Field this season, but 3-8 with a 6.62 ERA in any other ballpark.

REDS: Bauer had his best outing as a member of the Reds in his previous start against the D-backs, striking out nine and allowing one run over eight innings. The right-hander is 1-0 with a 3.26 ERA in three September starts.
