Merrill Kelly, RH (10-13, 4.69, 132 Ks) - Arizona Diamondbacks

Jacob deGrom, RH (8-8, 2.76, 220 Ks) - New York Mets

D'BACKS: Kelly had one of his best outings of the year in his last start against the Padres. He tossed seven shutout innings, allowing three hits and two walks while striking out nine.

METS: With four starts remaining, Jacob deGrom hopes to bolster his credentials for a second consecutive National League Cy Young Award. Although deGrom has allowed eight runs in his last two outings, he still owns a 1.91 ERA since the All-Star break.

Zac Gallen, RH (3-4, 2.50, 82 Ks) - Arizona Diamondbacks

Zack Wheeler, RH (10-7, 4.33, 163 Ks) - New York Mets

D'BACKS: Corbin allowed four runs over six innings and took his first loss of the season in his last start against the Brewers on Monday. Corbin (4-1) now holds a 2.53 ERA over 57 innings pitched this season.

METS: As an impending free agent, few Mets pitchers have as much to gain this September than Wheeler. Wheeler began the month with a victory in Washington, moving to 4-1 with a 3.42 ERA in eight starts since coming off the injured list in July.

    Wednesday, 11th September,
    7:10 PM EDT
    Citi Field

Robbie Ray, LH (12-7, 4.03, 207 Ks) - Arizona Diamondbacks

Steven Matz, LH (9-8, 4.00, 132 Ks) - New York Mets

D'BACKS: Ray was removed from his last start with one out in the fifth inning due to a blister on his left middle finger. The team is confident that he will be able to make this start against the Mets.

METS: Matz hasn’t allowed more than two runs in a game at Citi Field since he allowed four (three earned) against the Cardinals on June 14. He’s 1-1 with a 4.76 ERA in four career starts against the D-backs, with his only win coming last year in Phoenix.

    Thursday, 12th September,
    1:10 PM EDT
    Citi Field

Alex Young, RH (7-3, 3.38, 58 Ks) - Arizona Diamondbacks

Marcus Stroman, RH (7-13, 3.42, 136 Ks) - New York Mets

D'BACKS: When the 2019 season opened, Young was pitching in relief for the D-backs’ Triple-A affiliate in Reno. On Saturday, in the heat of a Wild Card chase, and in front of 40 friends and family, Young set a club record for strikeouts by a rookie as he fanned 12 Reds in a 2-0 victory at Great American Ball Park.

METS: The most significant factor preventing Marcus Stroman from duplicating his Toronto success in New York may be luck. In seven starts since joining the Mets, Stroman has allowed a batting average on balls in play of .387. In Toronto, it was .293.
