  • Philadelphia Phillies vs. New York Mets = 09/06 - 09/08

    Friday, 6th September,
    7:10 PM EDT
    Citi Field

Zach Eflin, RH (8-11, 4.33, 106 Ks) - Philadelphia Phillies

Steven Matz, RH (9-8, 4.04, 128 Ks) - New York Mets

PHILLIES: Eflin has pitched well since he decided to return to his strength and start throwing his sinker more. He has a 2.08 ERA in his past two starts, allowing three runs in 13 innings and and throwing fewer pitches throughout the game.

METS: Matz has put up a solid second half, going 4-2 with a 2.73 ERA in nine starts since the Mets reinserted him into the rotation. He’s thrown only 52 2/3 innings, however, as the Mets have allowed him to exceed 100 pitches just twice in that stretch.

    Saturday, 7th July,
    7:10 PM EDT
    Citi Field

Drew Smyly, RH (3-6, 6.65, 98 Ks) - Philadelphia Phillies

Marcus Stroman, RH (7-12, 3.28, 130 Ks) - New York Mets

PHILLIES: Smyly allowed one run and struck out eight in 5 1/3 innings Monday against the Reds, his best start in a few weeks. He has a 6.23 ERA over his last six starts, while allowing 10 homers in 30 1/3 innings during that span.

METS: Mickey Callaway described Stroman’s last start -- two runs in six innings -- as probably his best as a Met. It was Stroman’s first quality start in six tries since coming to New York, against the same Phillies team he’ll face at Citi Field.

    Sunday, 8th July,
    1:10 PM EDT
    Citi Field

Vince Velasquez, RH (6-7, 4.80, 108 Ks) - Philadelphia Phillies

Noah Syndergaard, RH (10-7, 3.97, 171 Ks) - New York Mets

METS: Following a 10-run outing against the Cubs that was, statistically, the worst start of his career, Syndergaard turned his attention to his mechanics. Five days later, he produced seven shutout innings to establish some positive momentum.
