  • Philadelphia Phillies vs. New York Mets = 04/15 - 04/17

    Monday, 15th April,
    7:05 PM ET
    Citizens Bank Park

Noah Syndergaard, RH (1-1, 4.74, 20 Ks) - New York Mets

Aaron Nola, RH (1-0, 6.46, 13 Ks) - Philadelphia Phillies

METS: Syndergaard’s 4.74 ERA is not indicative of his early-season performance. Last time out, he dominated the Twins over seven one-run innings before allowing three more runs to cross home in the eighth. His FIP is perhaps a better measure, at 2.84.

PHILLIES: Nola has not been at his best in three 2019 starts. He has lacked command, and his velocity has been up and down. In his start Tuesday vs. the Nats, he could not hold a five-run lead entering the sixth frame. The Phillies say they are not worried.

Steven Matz, LH (1-0, 1.65, 19 Ks) - New York Mets

Nick Pivetta, RH (1-1, 9.45, 14 Ks) - Philadelphia Phillies

METS: Raise your hand if you predicted Matz would be the Mets’ most consistent starter in the first half of April. Coming off an uneven spring, Matz has gone at least five innings with no more than two runs in each of his first three regular-season starts.

PHILLIES: Pivetta hopes to put a rough start behind him when he faces the Mets. Manager Gabe Kapler said Pivetta lacked conviction with his off-speed stuff, particularly in two-strike counts. It will be interesting to see if Pivetta is more aggressive Tuesday.

    Wednesday, 17th April,
    1:05 PM EDT
    Citizens Bank Park

Zack Wheeler, RH (1-1, 7.47, 17 Ks) - New York Mets

Jake Arrieta, RH (2-1, 2.25, 15 Ks) - Philadelphia Phillies

METS: Wheeler made a mechanical tweak in his last start, slowing down his windup. He believes it resulted in better command, allowing him to deliver his first quality start of the year. Lifetime at Citizens Bank Park, Wheeler is 3-0 with a 3.96 ERA.

PHILLIES: Arrieta earned his 100th career win Friday against the Marlins. He also got a career-high six swings and misses using his changeup. He is throwing the pitch a lot more than in the past, which makes it worth watching moving forward.
