    MARLINS: A September callup, Brigham makes his second big league start. The right-hander debuted on Sunday in a loss to Toronto, giving up three runs in three innings. Brigham impressed in 95 1/3 Minor League innings, posting a 2.36 ERA in 17 starts.

    METS: deGrom was scratched from his start Sunday due to rough weather. He faces Miami for the fourth time this year, still looking for his first win, having racked up 22 strikeouts in 19 innings.

    MARLINS: In his last three starts, Urena is 2-0 with a no-decision. He has allowed six runs in 22 innings (2.45 ERA). Urena has attacked the zone batter, shown in his last outing, with seven strikeouts and no walks in seven innings against the Phillies.

    METS: Scratched on both Sunday and Monday due to rainy weather at Citi Field, deGrom will now pitch Tuesday against the Marlins. He’ll face Miami for the fourth time this year, still looking for his first win despite 22 strikeouts in 19 innings.

    Zack Wheeler, RH (10-7, 3.89) - New York Mets

    MARLINS: Richards has struggled in his last seven starts, going 0-3 with a 5.40 ERA. In that span, the rookie has struck out 42 in 33 1/3 innings. In his last start, a loss to the Phillies, he gave up six runs in a season-low 1 1/3 innings.

    METS: Wheeler has consistently been a dominant force on the rubber. He is 8-1 with a 2.12 ERA in his past 11 starts, and the Mets are 9-2 in that span. In his career against Miami, he is 4-2 with a 2.13 ERA.

    MARLINS: Rainouts in back-to-back days delayed Brigham's second big league start. The right-hander made his MLB debut on Sept. 2 against the Blue Jays, giving up three runs in three innings. In the Minors this year, Brigham was 10-3 with a 2.36 ERA.

    METS: Fresh off a four-start run that saw him go 3-0 with a 1.99 ERA, Vargas allowed five runs -- four earned -- in his last outing against the Dodgers. On paper, at least, he’ll receive a reprieve in his next start against the offense-starved Marlins.

    Steven Matz, LH (5-11, 5.17) - New York Mets

    MARLINS: In his last start, Alcantara showed signs of why he was a centerpiece in the Marcell Ozuna trade with the Cardinals. The rookie threw seven-plus scoreless innings in a win over the Phillies. Alcantara struck out six and commanded his 98-mph fastball.

    METS: Matz has fanned at least seven batters in three consecutive stats for the first time in his career. He has a 2.25 ERA with 31 strikeouts in his past four starts, and he looks to continue his success against the Marlins on Thursday.
