Jason Vargas, LH (2-6, 8.60) - New York Mets

Ivan Nova, RH (6-6, 4.28) - Pittsburgh Pirates

METS: Vargas will make his return on Friday. A strained right calf injury has kept him on the disabled list since June 24, but the lefty has made multiple rehab appearances for the Brooklyn Cyclones, and will be back in the rotation to face the Bucs.

PIRATES: Nova worked deep into his last start on Sunday, allowing only two runs over 6 2/3 innings against the Reds. Since coming off the DL on June 10, the veteran is 4-1 with a 3.40 ERA -- and seven of the 18 runs he's allowed came in one start.
