  • Washington Nationals vs. New York Mets = 08/04 - 08/05

    Tuesday, 4th August,
    7:05 PM EDT
    Nationals Park

Steven Matz, LH (0-1, 3.18, 10 Ks) - New York Mets

Patrick Corbin, LH (0-0, 1.42, 8 Ks) - Washington Nationals

METS: Like rotation-mate Jacob deGrom, Matz has featured some of the hardest velocities of his career so far this season. He credits it to work he did at home in Nashville during MLB's COVID-19 shutdown.

NATIONALS: The Nats will be back in action after having their weekend series vs. the Marlins postponed. Corbin will be on the bump for the first time since July 26, when he limited the Yanks to one run over 6 1/3 innings in a no-decision.

    Wednesday, 5th August,
    6:05 PM EDT
    Nationals Park

Rick Porcello, RH (0-1, 13.50, 6 Ks) - New York Mets

Max Scherzer, RH (0-1, 2.84, 21 Ks) - Washington Nationals

METS: It's been a rough go so far for Porcello, who has allowed 11 runs (nine earned) in his first six innings as a Met. One of the biggest problems has been uncharacteristic for the veteran: an average of a walk per inning.

NATIONALS: Scherzer, who threw a no-hitter against the Mets in 2015, is 10-5 with a 2.63 ERA in 20 career starts facing them. This season, he has recorded 21 strikeouts in just two starts.

#RecordMeansEverything - or that's what we heard from Nats fans as the 2018 Cy Young race came down to the wire...

Porcello grew up as a Mets fan. C'mon Rick, make yourself a forever Mets memory. Outduel Scherzer.
